Lauren Callaghan

Lauren has over twenty years of experience working as a Clinical Psychologist and CBT Therapist across mental health settings and the business world.  Having started her training in her native New Zealand, Lauren has worked at the Maudsley Hospital in London specialising in the treatment of anxiety, trauma and obsessional problems.  During this time she had the great fortune of meeting Debbie Cullen, her partner in crime at conferences in particular.  Since qualifying Lauren has completed additional qualifications and training in family therapy, ADHD and sleep psychology.  Lauren has written  a number of well received books on CBT focusing on the treatment of anxiety and obsessional problems, depression and body image issues.  She has a wide range of interests in mental health including effects of exercise and nutrition on wellbeing.  Lauren has worked with a range of businesses including large corporations and startups, and has a unique insight into the psychological needs of employees in different workplace settings.

In her spare time she can be found writing, trying to not collapse in a hot yoga class, exclaiming “that’s not how I was taught maths!”, forcing her children to go to swimming lessons or a going on a ‘lovely country walk’.

Debbie Cullen

Debbie has 30 years of clinical experience in the NHS, spending a large part of her career as senior therapist, supervisor and trainer in an internationally renowned service at the Maudsley Hospital working with clients with a range of anxiety disorders and PTSD.  More recently she has worked in an innovative health psychology service, helping clients manage the psychological impact of long term health conditions.  She is a trauma specialist, with particular interest in psychological responses to traumatic events, the links between physical and psychological health and staff support, wellbeing and ‘burnout’.  Following her doctoral training in clinical psychology Debbie undertook an MSc in CBT and has spent her career supervising, supporting and mentoring colleague and training junior therapists.  She also has additional training in EMDR and Schema Focused Therapy.

Now recently retired from NHS work she splits her time between London and the Lake District where she is a fair weather walker and (when feeling brave) an open water swimmer (when feeling even more brave), mainly as an excuse for subsequent tea and cake.  When the sun sets you will find her in front of a fire with a good book and a nice glass of red.
